Welcome Letter

To whom it may concern,

It gives me great pleasure as Chairman of Spirit of Sharing to welcome you to our ‘SOS’ website.

We hope our website will take you through our Journey over the past 15 years and invite you to join us as we continue to empower the lives of Children & Youth across the Asia Pacific.

I was fortunate enough to have founded Spirit of Sharing in the year 2000 after visiting Fiji for a holiday where I saw children at schools playing sport with improvised devices. Many still play rugby with coconuts and soccer with plastic bottles.

The original idea I had with developing SOS was to empower & create opportunity through sport for Children & Youth in Fiji. This was first done by providing small amounts of sporting equipment to Schools in Fiji.

As the years went by SOS gathered more volunteers and forged a relationship with the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Fiji. The sending of a 20 foot shipping container of sports equipment each year began to provide much needed equipment to rural Schools, Youth Clubs and Sports Clubs.

SOS has always had a focus on going rural, our team personally go to Fiji to receive and deliver all donated sports equipment. Distributions are managed through the Ministry of Youth and Sports and recorded to ensure the equipment goes where it has been allocated.

SOS has grown to now cover the Asia Pacific where we have & continue to run sporting projects in Kiribati, Samoa, Vanuatu, Cambodia, PNG etc…

SOS in recent years has expanded its focus to include new sporting assets, sporting asset renewal & sports/fitness education.

Currently we are working in partnership on a flagship Sports Park in Koroipita Lautoka Fiji Islands. We are building a new Multipurpose Court, resurfacing an existing Soccer / Rugby field and building a pavilion.

To keep up to date on the work of SOS why not become a member and receive our quarterly newsletters & a host of member benefits. Check it out today.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally and on behalf of SOS thank all our sponsors and volunteers. Together we can achieve great things!

Once again thank you for coming to our site, enjoy the journey and do consider supporting the work of SOS.

Kindest Regards,

Peter Cole OAM
