  • Vanuatu Soccer Project

Team SOS represented by Peter Cole & Michael Rochford travelled to Vanuatu in May to participate in the official SOS family fun day on the island of Santo. For 18 months SOS and Village de Santo had been working to get a shipment of Soccer equipment to Vanuatu for rural Soccer, Sports & Youth Clubs. SOS sent over 1,500 brand new soccer balls, many boots and other types of equipment to Vanuatu. Sponsored by Santo Hardware, Village de Santo and others the project took place and arrived at a time when the need could not be greater due to recent cyclone Pam. Team SOS also distributed Soccer equipment to villages, schools & soccer clubs on the Island of Vila, the equipment was very well received by the Children & Youth. SOS has also set up logistics to run a Cultural Exchange event where 40 Australian heading to Vanuatu in November will volunteer for half a day painting a school and then be immersed in Traditional Dancing and Singing for the afternoon. During the afternoon 3 lucky school will also receive full sporting equipment kits donated by SOS.

  • Site Launched April 2014

    Hey Everyone,

We here at SOS are excited to launch our brand new website!  We have a number of different functions we can walk you through but the main purpose of launching is to create more awareness and funding for the school children throughout South Pacific and Asian countries!

If you haven't read about us already - check out our site, it tells you about who we are, how we started and why we focus on under privileged communities which donate sports equipment to school children.  It's an interesting read - it also illustrates how you can help!

This year we are running a number of different initiatives from our new website, all in order to raise more funds and awareness for the children!  Some of these revenue streams include selling water, phone cards and phone sims in the local resorts of Fiji and Vanuatu.  Where a donation goes back to the local communities.  We also have just launched SOS branded rugby, netball, rugby league, volleyball, AFL balls - all made and gladly sponsored by Gilbert.  For every ball that is purchased one ball is donated back to Fiji or Vanuatu.  Thanks Gilbert!!!

Finally our biggest feature is hosting Cultural Exchange Programs in association with Unleashed Travel.  If you didn't already know who Unleashed are - check them out!  They are the leaders in School Leaving Experiences.  They bring over thousands of Australian and Kiwis at the end of each School year to Fiji and Vanuatu for a trip of a lifetime!

Unleashed decided to team up with SOS and a couple of other major sponsors, to be able to put something back into the communities that host them.  The outcome is an 8 hour Cross Cultural Exchange Program held on the mainland of Fiji.  The day is fantastic where 1500 South Pacific children gather with 1000 School Leavers.  They interact, have lunch, play games, teach new balls skills!!   All of which is a memorable day out. The cost is only $99FJN which includes their transfer and lunch, where 100% profit goes back into those under privillaged communities that host us...

We are always looking for new and innovative way to raise funds for the South Pacific and Asian school children.  So if you have any ideas we'd love to hear about them!  You can also support us by writing comments, retweeting our updates and liking us on our Facebook page.

We have loads more ideas that we want to share with you throughout the year!  So watch this space and help us enable a sports fuelled environment for the children of the South Pacific!
